History

This event took root in the historic town of Windsor and has been produced by Sarah McKay with the help of friends and artists such as Alexia Lalande, Terese Newman, Dean Batteson, Kelsey Renfro, and many others. It has been built up by amazing dedicated volunteers, artists, and enthusiastic guests of all ages. We have been eager to bring Rough Around the Edges to The Dirt Salon in Hartford in order to reach a more diverse audience and share our amazing artists with new viewers. In the previous five years, we have donated money made from the silent auction to the CT Down Syndrome Association, the National Arts Program, the Windsor Arts Center, the National Foundation for Autism Research, and Family Life Education.

We invite you and your friends to join us in a truly unique celebration of creativity and freedom of expression with the Rough Around the Edges Art show.

Sarah McKaySarah McKay,

Co-Founder of Rough Edges Art Productions/Director of Rough Around The Edges

Dedicated to serving the community through the arts, Sarah McKay first dreamt of “Rough Around The Edges” as a means to break barriers and stigmas of “Fine Art” by creating an environment that challenged the traditional white wall galleries. An artist, educator and event producer, Sarah continues to volunteer her time and resources to ensuring that the annual Rough Around the Edges art show continues to exhibit passionate artwork and performances while maintaining that a portion of proceeds from the event goes to a relevant charity each year.
